Abstract
Melon (Cucumis melo L.) is one of the most important vegetables worldwide and belongs to the Cucurbitaceae family. Drought stress is a major abiotic stress that limits agricultural production in the world. Hence, the development of drought-tolerant plant cultivars emerges as promising method to mitigate the impacts of drought stress. One solution to find such drought tolerant cultivars is to explore traditional cultivars landrace in the hope of find tolerant genotypes. In the absence of a drought-tolerant variety, the first step is to screen the germplasm to identify potential drought-tolerant genotypes. One of the most important goals of the present study was to select the most appropriate drought tolerant index as well as to identify the most drought tolerant genotypes.
